This innovative service offers patients a more convenient way to schedule appointments with orthopedic specialists and can be accessed by clicking the “Request an Appointment” button anywhere on oano.com.
The new system, powered by nextDoc, reinforces OANO’s commitment to enhancing patient services and improving access to high-quality orthopedic care. The secure online platform not only reduces wait times by enabling 24/7 appointment requests but also features a secure messaging capability, allowing patients and referring physician offices to communicate safely and efficiently.
“We understand that your time is valuable, and our goal is to make accessing top-tier
orthopedic care as simple and efficient as possible,” said Douglas N. Lurie, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at OANO.
In addition to benefiting patients, the system streamlines the appointment process for referring physicians by replacing outdated fax processes. With just a few clicks, referring offices can now request appointments for their patients, ensuring quicker access to care.
These online appointment requests are part of a series of recent enhancements at OANO. Since November 2024, the practice has expanded access with a new location in Metairie, welcomed a hand specialist to broaden its services, introduced an appointment-free OANO Walk-In Clinic at both Uptown and Metairie locations, and implemented a new electronic health record (EHR) system. This advanced EHR system improves the accessibility, accuracy, and security of medical records while also offering convenient online bill pay and a patient portal for greater control over the healthcare
experience.
