Orthopaedic Associates of New Orleans (OANO) is proud to announce the addition of Katherine “Katie” Faust, MD, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who carries a subspecialty certificate in surgery of the hand, to its esteemed team of orthopaedic providers. Dr. Faust is a New Orleans native who has practiced locally for seven years, offering specialized expertise in hand and upper extremity care for adults and pediatrics.
“We excitedly welcome Dr. Faust’s arrival to Orthopaedic Associates,” says Lance Estrada, MD, a leading surgeon at OANO since 2004. “Her extensive experience and expertise in hand and orthopaedic surgery brings a new dimension of specialized care to our patients of all ages.”
Dr. Faust’s career journey has been marked by a dedication to patient care and professional excellence. After graduating from St. Mary’s Dominican High School and then Loyola University in New Orleans, she went on to earn a Doctorate of Medicine from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and complete her Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Tulane University School of Medicine. She then completed two fellowships—a Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship at Duke University and a Pediatric Hand Fellowship at The Hand & Upper Extremity Center of Georgia in Atlanta. She returned to New Orleans to practice with her father, Dr. Donald C. Faust, who has practiced hand surgery in New Orleans for 40 years.
Dr. Faust has published research on a variety of upper extremity topics, from congenital to traumatic and population studies. Her ongoing support for young orthopaedic professionals via teaching opportunities underscores her dedication to advancing orthopaedic knowledge.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Dr. Faust enjoys a fulfilling personal life. She married a San Diego native and convinced him to live in New Orleans. They once built a cedar wood canoe and now are enjoying raising their son.
